Exciting news – the Mitsubishi Africa Adventure Cape to Cape Expedition is back on track!

Earlier this year, the all-women expedition came under threat by the economic crisis crippling the world and last minute budget cuts experienced by many our sponsors including Mitsubishi Motors South Africa.

After 3 weeks of rollercoaster negotiations with Mitsubishi, we are now back on track, making our mark from the southern most tip of Africa to the northernmost point of Europe starting early April 2009.

The expedition itself, however, has been considerably downsized to allow for the tough times we all experience right now and therefore a maximum of eight fearless women in three Mitsubishi Pajeros will undertake the seven month, 35 000 km long expedition.

Richtig sicher bin ich wohl erst, wenn ich im Pajero sitze und losfahre! Aber man soll die Hoffnung niiieee aufgeben. Vielleicht werdet ihr doch noch Bilder von mir an den schönsten Plätzen in Afrikas hier auf dieser Seite sehen 🙂 🙂

The Mitsubishi Africa Adventure Cape to Cape Expedition 2009 is called of !

Despite the positive start to 2009 the current economic crisis is crippling the world.

No one can escape the situation and sadly, the main sponsors of the Mitsubishi Africa Adventure Cape to Cape Expedition and this includes Mitsubishi, have experienced financial constraints and tremendous budget cuts.

Vorbereitungen von 11/2 Jahren können innerhalb von 5 Minuten völlig gekippt werden. Ja, so ist das Leben.

Ich werde mir einen neuen „Plan vom Leben“ für die nächsten Monate machen müssen. Aber erst einmal muß dieser Schock verarbeitet werden.

Vielen Dank an alle, die mich im letzten Jahr so intensiv unterstützt haben. Ich werde Euch an dieser Stelle berichten, wie es weiter geht.

Life is not always a smooth ride, sometimes it is more like a rollercoaster going up and down ! In the moment we have a down-time.

Finanzielle Probleme ( sponsors were answered with the simple line: „While the event/sponsorship does seem an interesting opportunity for brand building, the current economic enviroment does not allow us to spend money on such activities.“ ) haben unsere beiden Organisatorinnen veranlasst, unsere Tour um einen Monat zu verschieben. Offizieller Beginn ist jetzt 6. April 2009. Es ist noch nicht sicher, ob die Tour überhaupt durchgeführt werden kann !!

Es laufen noch Verhandlungen mit interessierten Sponsoren.

Wir geben die Hoffnung nicht auf!

begins in 2 days !! Then I have only two month to organize my old life 🙂

At the end of February I will fly to Plettenberg Bay and then begins my new adventurously lifetime.

I wish my family and all my friends in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Canada and certainly in South Africa a Happy New Year , good health, happiness, fun and last but not least lots of new experiences, adventures a.s.o.

I hope it will be a good year for all of us.

We are back in town. No time to write a travelogue, in the moment no time to make a picture-list, no time to reflect!

But time to invite friends for a special dinner:

We bought some mopane-worms in Windhoek. We knew this worms, but only roasted for eating and there we learned to make a delicious meal with boiled worms and fried onions with tomatoes.

We thought let’s do it !! Here are the pictures:

Ok, we had some Gin-Tonic, wine and beer. So we could have a great meal!

I think that was the only time,  but not once more :-)))))

Wir sind wieder da! Ja, die Zeit ist viel zu schnell vergangen und nun hat mich der Alltagsstreß wieder.

Also erstmal nur ganz kurz: wir sind durch das Marienflußtal zum Kunene gefahren. Es war unendlich einsam, schön und trotzdem aufregend. Das Auto hat trotz schlechtester Wege gut durchgehalten. Später mehr!

Nun ist es endlich soweit: Morgen fliegen wir nach Namibia!

Relaxen in der Wüste, Leute treffen auf Farmen, Märkten und im Busch.

Wir wollen das Kaokofeld im äußersten Nordwesetn Namibias erkunden und bis zum Kunene an der angolanischen Grenze fahren. Das alte deutsche Fort ‚Sesfontein‘  wird Ausgangspunkt für die Fahrt Richtung Norden werden.

In den nächsten drei Wochen sind wir auf den staubigen Straßen Namibias zu finden!

All women have to do a lot of things, preparing for a long trip . The teams are in email-contact and we are all in facebook.

Every team have 7 countries to research all facts about this countries as Border crossing time, car requirements, visa & entry requirements a.s.o. You can read this in our forum.

We have to looking for sponsors and to prepare for the big Getaway-show in South Africa (not me 🙁 , it’s to far to Joburg).
